Infusion Guide

Infusion lets you charge your weapon with runes. While the weapon you have equipped holds charges, it gives you +20% damage, +20% drop rate and +20% double drop rate.

How charges work

  • The bonus is active as long as your equipped weapon has at least 1 charge. It does not need to be fully charged.
  • Each hit has a 50% chance to use 1 charge.
  • The Save Infusion Charges prayer from the Unholy prayers cuts that chance in half again.
  • Each weapon can only hold a set number of charges (see the table below).

Step 1 - Get essence

  • Use ::essence to go to the essence mine. Mine Pure essence (you need level 31 Mining to get the Pure essence option) or Rune essence.
  • The Season Pass also has Pure essence among its rewards.

Step 2 - Craft runes

Take your essence to the runecrafting altar at ::home and craft runes. Most current weapons use Fire, Death and Blood runes:

RuneRunecrafting level
Fire rune14
Death rune65
Blood rune75

The 2x Runecrafting Scroll from the Slayer shops permanently doubles the runes you craft.

Step 3 - Infuse your weapon

  1. Put the weapon and the runes in your inventory.
  2. Right-click the weapon and choose its infuse option. The Infusion window shows the runes needed, how many charges the weapon can hold and how many it has now.
  3. Click the infuse button. Each set of runes adds charges equal to your Infusion level divided by 10 (at least 1). It keeps going until you run out of runes or the weapon is full.

Changed your mind? The same window can remove all charges from a weapon. You get back half of the runes you put in.

Many of these weapons also drop from their bosses. Older weapons from retired content can still be infused if you own one: check its Infusion window for the cost.

Slayer weapons

The Slayer Sword, Slayer Staff and Slayer Bow work differently. They are charged with Slayer Scales instead of runes: 1 scale gives 1 charge, up to 10,000, from Infusion level 1. They give no damage or drop bonus. Their charges are only used against the Slayer Demon, the one boss they are needed for. See the Slayer Guide.

Happy grinding!
